World's tallest building opens in Dubai

The world's tallest building has been opened with a dramatic fireworks ceremony in Dubai on January 4. The 828 m high Burj Khalifa stole the record to Taipei 101 in Taiwan.

The newly-opened tower has 160 floors and more than 500,000 sq m of space for offices and flats. Burj Khalifa is a multiple record breaker and can be seen 95 km away.

Offshore oil field found in Dubai

The Dubai Government yesterday announced the discovery of a new offshore oil field. This could significantly boost Dubai’s hydrocarbon output and help it achieve speedy growth next year when production starts.

The size of the oil reserve has yet to be assessed, however, some reports suggest it is of significant volume. The Government has hinted at producing oil from the new field in a year’s time.

MY Tower piling works completed

International Foundation Group completed all the piling works. In February all the 216 piles will be tested and the sand will be removed from the construction site.

Meanwhile the Developer is finalizing the call for tenders with the Main Constructor. The construction works will start in March and will be completed in about 20/22 months.
